Secret Dara Taco Recipe

Before I started this blog I tried to make homemade tacos from scratch. My friend Dara, of Oregon fame, had a recipe that she always wanted to try but she didn't feel comfortable frying food (not in a deep fryer). Well I convinced her to come over to my apartment at the time and we would cook up a big meal. She taught me this very recipe and then we continued to set my apartment on fire.

To my knowledge she didn't have tacos for a couple years after that, because of that experience and I would never attempt that recipe until tonight.
The recipe is pretty simple and I've added somethings, but all you need is:
  • ground beef
  • minced onions
  • minced garlic
  • refried beans
  • cumin
  • sliced green onion
  • love (get it? GET IT?)
First you brown the meat. Then move all the meat to the sides of your pan and add the veggies. Mix it all together and sprinkle on your cumin. Finally stir in your refried beans and let simmer for ~15 min. You are good to go.

The reason we set the place on fire was because we were frying tortillas to make the taco shells. The oil got super hot and burst into flames. I'm sure I could embellish this into a great story later on, so stayed tuned.
