It sucks to be robbed

For those who didn't know, I had a break-in at my house and the thieves stole some of my most prized possessions - all my video games. Luckily no one was home so no one was hurt, but it sucks nonetheless.

I remember it so vividly, which is to be expected since it happened only yesterday but that's beside the point. I got home at 5:15 and went to the side door as usual. I noticed the door was cracked open to my surprise. I was hoping that nothing was taken. Everything looked in place as I walked through my kitchen, but I could literally feel that there was something wrong. When I went into the living room I saw that everything was gone except the TV and sound system. I then walked to my room and saw that my desk drawer was dumped on my bed and sifted through. A bunch of change had been taken, but important documents and financial things remained.

I don't even know how to describe in words how I felt at the time. I was angry but that lasted all of 15 seconds. After that it was just disappointment. It felt very surreal. I'm lucky that my laptop was with me (because I had just got home from Vegas) and that there wasn't any real damage done to the house or any of our other stuff. It still sucks balls. There is just nothing anyone can do about the situation. I realized that right away and immediately began to cope and hope for the best. What else could I do?

Was there anything I could do differently? Should I not be flaunting my life all over the internet? I could look at it like that, but really this is who I am and I'm not about to change that. I also think about all the other people that this happens to and there literally is nothing that I could do. This was just going to happen and it sucks, but I'm over it.

I'm not going to stop blogging, I'm not going to stop tweeting or friendfeeding or facebooking or sharing my life with all of you. I'm just going to move on and get my stuff back. I'm definitely going to check out the local pawn shops to see if anything has turned up. Otherwise, I hope the insurance situation works out. I miss video games too much.

The feeling of being voilated really stinks but the items are replaceable, you aren't. your attitude and your ability to regain your peace is awesome.
